These conventional N95 “industrial” respirators may be used by healthcare workers during the public health emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the US FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Because the 3M Particulate Respirator 8210 has not been authorized by the US FDA as a surgical mask and is not considered fluid resistant, it must be used with a face shield.

The 3M Particulate Respirator 8210, N95 is a disposable particulate respirator that is designed to provide reliable respiratory protection with filtration effectiveness of at least 95% against specific non-oil-based particles. This respirator is made to protect against dust from grinding, sanding, sweeping, sawing, bagging, and other dusty jobs. This respirator can also assist to limit inhalation exposures to some biological particles in the air (for example, mold, Bacillus anthracis, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis), but it cannot completely remove the risk of infection, illness, or disease. The respirator features 3M’s patented technology, as well as advanced electrostatically charged microfiber filter media that makes breathing easier. A range of protective eyewear and hearing protection are compatible with this respirator.

This particulate respirator is NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) approved for non-oil-based particle environments and has a filter efficiency of at least 95%.
