Description
CARBON FILM RESISTORS THORUGH HOLE — BOLTON SKU 60099.
Carbon film resistors thorugh hole component family
Carbon film resistors are fixed, axial-leaded resistors and remain the general-purpose through-hole part for prototyping, repair and legacy board rework. This BOLTON record is a family entry rather than one resistance value, so the value, tolerance and wattage must be stated on the enquiry before a quotation can be prepared. As a published reference for what the format offers, Yageo’s CFR general-purpose carbon film series lists resistance values on the E24 series from 1 Ω to 10 MΩ, tolerances of ±2% and ±5%, power ratings from 1/6 W to 3 W across five body sizes, and an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +155 °C. Temperature coefficient is published by resistance decade rather than as a single figure, and for the smaller CFR bodies runs from -500 to +350 ppm/°C below 100 kΩ through to -1500 to 0 ppm/°C between 1 MΩ and 10 MΩ. The series is tested to IEC 60115-1 methods.

Typical applications
Through-hole carbon film resistors are used for biasing, pull-up and pull-down, current limiting and general signal conditioning on prototype and repair boards. They are a routine bench consumable in electronics workshops, MRO repair cells and test-equipment maintenance, and are still specified for legacy board rework where the original build is axial through-hole. Because the tolerance and temperature coefficient of the format are loose compared with metal film, precision and low-drift positions are normally re-specified rather than filled with a carbon film part.
