About the Parker 6-6 MHN-SS Stainless Steel Hex
The 6-6 MHN-SS is the 316 stainless steel version of Parker’s male hex nipple in the instrumentation pipe fitting range. Both ends carry 3/8 in NPT male threads, and the fitting measures 1.45 in overall length with a maximum operating pressure of 7,200 psi. The SS suffix in the part number denotes the stainless material, distinguishing it from the carbon steel 6-6 MHN-S of the same nominal geometry. Choosing 316 stainless changes what the fitting can be exposed to: it is the grade specified where the process medium, washdown chemistry, marine air or humidity would attack a plated carbon steel body, and where the joint is expected to be broken and remade over a long service life without thread corrosion. As a one-piece machined body with taper threads at each end, it joins two female NPT ports directly with a single component and two sealed joints.
