When building a complete mask, the 3M 6000 Series is maintenance-free, and the reusable respirator is the fundamental face piece we propose. The filters or cartridges are directly attached to the facepiece, just like the other 3M filter masks we sell. They are attached with a 1/4 turn bayonet style fitting that requires no tools. Our most recommended package for lead and asbestos protection is the 3M 6000 Lead and Asbestos Mask Combination. Choose the 3M 6001 Organic Vapor Cartridge if your job demands protection from organic vapors. It is NIOSH-approved for a wide range of organic vapors and easily attaches to the 3M 6000 and 7500 Series masks. Looking for the ideal filter for mold remediation and protection against harmful dust? 3M 2097 Filters are compatible with the 3M 6000 and 3M 7500 Series Half Masks, as well as the 3M 6000 Series Full Face Respirator. The respirator’s lightweight construction makes it easy to wear for extended periods of time, and the adjustable cradle suspension keeps it in position for the best fit and comfort. To form a seal against the face, the mask’s central piece is dark grey plastic with a rubbery light grey elastomeric composition. Only in comparison to past designs of masks, which were extremely expensive and had a large number of replacement parts, can we declare that the mask is maintenance-free. The 3M 6000 half mask’s pricing renders this unneeded. To maintain the mask fresh and clean, simply wash it with warm soap and water, but if the seal begins to break down, simply replace it.
