Typical applications
A 150 mm foam compounding pad is used on smaller panels, edges and curved sections where a 9 in wool pad is unwieldy, and on finishes too soft to take an aggressive wool cut. It is also the usual choice where the compounding step follows a fine sanding grade and only a small amount of correction remains. Operators normally keep a separate pad for each compound so that coarser abrasive is not carried forward into a finer step.
