About the Loctite 222 Threadlocker 50 ml
LOCTITE 222 is Henkel’s low-strength threadlocker, supplied here in a 50 ml pack. Henkel classifies the chemistry as acrylate with an anaerobic cure: the liquid stays workable while air is present and hardens once it is confined between the mating metal threads of an assembled fastener, locking the joint against loosening from vibration. It sits at the low-strength end of the LOCTITE threadlocking range by design, so a treated fastener can still be released with ordinary hand tools at overhaul — which is also what makes the grade usable on lower-strength metals such as aluminium or brass. Henkel’s product data gives a purple colour, a viscosity of 1200 mPa·s measured at 20 rpm and 25 °C, a fixture time of 20 minutes and an operating range of −55 °C to 150 °C, and recommends the grade for small thread sizes up to 6.35 mm (1/4 in). The substrates listed are metal, including passive metal, and surfaces should be cleaned with a LOCTITE solvent before application.

Typical applications
Low-strength grades are the ones reached for on adjustment and set screws, small instrument fasteners and grub screws that must hold position under vibration yet be reset later without being drilled out. A 50 ml bottle is a bench-scale pack for assembly and repair cells rather than production dispensing. The up-to-6.35 mm guidance is the practical boundary: on larger threads a low-strength grade will not develop enough break-loose torque to be relied on.
