About the 6091-001 Threaded Receptacle, 2600/2700 Series

6091-001 is a Camloc threaded receptacle for the Camloc 2600 and 2700 series quarter-turn fasteners, catalogued by Pegasus Auto Racing as a 99-series "Type 4" threaded receptacle. It has a 15/32-32 UNS thread and is 5/8 in long overall; the top flange is 5/8 in outside diameter and requires a 100° countersink. The body is plated cast zinc, with a maximum temperature of 300 °F (150 °C). Installation needs only one hole: the receptacle can be screwed into a tapped hole in a thick or buried section, or a retaining nut can be fitted from the back face for use in thin panels. HFS Industrial describes the 2600 series as a small fastener giving a high tensile load, with a maximum tensile strength of 1,330 N and a maximum working load of 900 N, locking and unlocking in a quarter turn. Note that studs one dash number longer than standard are required with this receptacle.

Typical applications

Threaded receptacles of this pattern are installed on the fixed structure behind an access panel so that a quarter turn of the mating stud locks or releases the panel with no loose hardware. The single-hole installation and the back-fitted retaining nut option make this variant usable on both thick sections and thin sheet, which suits equipment covers, avionics bay doors, engine and body panels and enclosure lids. The 900 N working load and quarter-turn action favour panels that are opened often but still have to stay secure under vibration.
