Description
NUT HEX NYLOCK M3X4 SST A2 DIN985 — BOLTON SKU 60223.
About the Nylock Hex Nut M3x4 Stainless Steel
This fastener is a nylon-insert hexagon lock nut — commonly called a nyloc nut — in the M3 thread size, manufactured in A2 stainless steel to DIN 985, the standard covering prevailing-torque hexagon thin nuts with non-metallic insert. A polyamide ring captive in the top of the nut deforms elastically as the mating thread passes through it, generating a prevailing torque that resists self-loosening under vibration without marking the bolt thread; the nut can still be run down and removed with ordinary tools. The A2 marking identifies a general-purpose austenitic stainless steel with good atmospheric corrosion resistance. M3 lock nuts are consumed in quantity across electronics, instrument and light mechanical assembly wherever small joints see vibration. The ‘4’ in the record’s size string is an internal record artefact and is not asserted as a dimension; full dimensions follow DIN 985 for M3 and are confirmed at quotation.
