Description
NUT HEX LOCK M6 STAINLESS STEEL A2 POLYAMIDE INSERT DIN 985 BN 637 1242407 — BOLTON SKU 60221.
About the 1242407 Nylon Insert Lock Nut, M6 A2
This is an M6 prevailing-torque hexagon lock nut in A2 stainless steel, made to the familiar DIN 985 pattern and carried by Bossard under reference BN 637. A ring of polyamide is captive in the top of the nut; as the mating thread cuts into the insert it generates prevailing torque that resists self-loosening under vibration, without damaging the bolt thread. Bossard classifies BN 637 as its prevailing-torque hex lock nut, thin type, with polyamide insert, offered in A2 stainless across a range of metric sizes. DIN 985 itself has been formally withdrawn in favour of ISO-series lock-nut standards, but the designation remains in universal commercial use and parts continue to be supplied against it. A2 (304-type) stainless provides good general corrosion resistance for indoor and most outdoor service. The polyamide insert makes these nuts re-usable a limited number of times and unsuitable for sustained high-temperature joints.

Typical applications
Nylon-insert lock nuts are used wherever bolted joints see vibration — vehicle and UAV structures, machinery, enclosures and general plant assembly. Stainless versions are preferred for corrosion-exposed and marine-adjacent installations and are a staple of MRO fastener stocks.
