About the Plain Washer ISO 7089 5×10 mm
ISO 7089 is the international standard for plain washers, normal series, product grade A — the metric flat washer family formerly covered by DIN 125 Form A. This part is the M5 size in steel, with a nominal 5.3 mm inside diameter, 10 mm outside diameter and 1.0 mm thickness. Plain washers of this type sit under a bolt head or nut to spread the clamping load over a larger bearing area, protect the mating surface from damage during tightening and bridge clearance holes. Product grade A is the closer-tolerance grade of the standard; the grade C counterpart of the same normal series is a separate standard, ISO 7091 (formerly DIN 126). Steel washers to ISO 7089 are catalogued in hardness classes of 140 HV, 200 HV and 300 HV, so the required hardness and any plating are confirmed at order stage. Specifying against a recognised ISO designation gives procurement and quality teams a controlled, drawing-referenced alternative to unspecified commercial flat washers.
