About the M4 Washer DIN 125 SS A2
DIN 125 specifies plain (flat) washers for use with metric bolts and screws. Form A is the version without an internal chamfer, and is the type indicated by this designation. In the M4 size the standard gives a 4.3 mm inside diameter, a 9 mm outside diameter and a nominal thickness of 0.8 mm. The washer is supplied in A2 austenitic stainless steel, the common corrosion-resistant grade offered against this standard alongside A4. Fastener references note that DIN 125 form A corresponds to the current ISO plain-washer standards ISO 7089 and ISO 7090, which have largely superseded the DIN document in new design work; parts are still widely ordered and stocked under the DIN 125 callout. A plain washer of this type spreads the clamping load over a larger bearing area and protects the joint face from marking as the fastener is tightened.
