About the ISO 7093 Plain Washer Large Series
ISO 7093-1 covers plain washers in the large series, which use a markedly greater outside diameter than the normal series for the same bolt size. In M6 the washer has a 6.4 mm inside diameter, an 18 mm outside diameter and a nominal thickness of 1.6 mm. A normal-series M6 washer to ISO 7089 measures only 12 mm across, so this part presents substantially more bearing area under the fastener head or nut. That extra area is the reason the large series exists: it spreads clamp load across soft, thin or slotted material so that the head does not emboss the surface or pull through it. This item is made in A4 austenitic stainless steel, the molybdenum-bearing grade within the ISO 3506 stainless family, which is specified where chloride exposure from marine air, washdown or coastal humidity would attack a plated carbon steel washer.

Typical applications
The 18 mm outside diameter makes this washer the choice where an M6 fastener bears on sheet metal, composite panel, GRP or timber, or where the hole is slotted or drilled oversize and the load must be spread rather than concentrated at the head. It is also used to bridge clearance holes opened beyond nominal during fitting. The A4 grade suits coastal and washdown installations, deck and enclosure hardware, and outdoor structures where a plated washer would bleed rust onto the surrounding surface.
