Description
Hex Socket Cap Head Screw M2 x 5, Stainless Steel A2, Full Thread — BOLTON SKU 56330.
About the Hex Socket Cap Head Screw M2
This is a miniature hexagon socket head cap screw in M2 x 5 mm, made in A2 stainless steel. Screws of this pattern follow ISO 4762, which is dimensionally interchangeable with DIN 912: a cylindrical head with a knurled periphery and an internal hexagon drive. For M2 the standard sets a maximum head diameter of 3.8 mm and a maximum head height of 2.0 mm, driven by a 1.5 mm hexagon key, on an ISO metric coarse thread of 0.4 mm pitch. At a 5 mm nominal length the screw is fully threaded, so the entire shank is available for engagement in a tapped hole. A2 is the general-purpose chromium-nickel austenitic grade of the ISO 3506 family, non-magnetic in the annealed condition and suited to indoor, humid and mildly corrosive service. The cylindrical head allows the screw to be counterbored so that nothing stands proud of the surface.

Typical applications
M2 socket cap screws are the working fastener of small electro-mechanical assembly, securing PCB standoffs, connector shells, sensor housings, optics and camera mounts, and small covers into tapped bosses. A 5 mm length suits thin-panel-to-boss fixing where only a few threads of engagement are available. A2 stainless is chosen for indoor instrumentation and equipment-bay hardware where a plated finish would risk flaking into sensitive assemblies.
