About the ISO 4762 Hexagon Socket Head Cap
This item is a hexagon socket head cap screw to ISO 4762, in M8 x 30 mm and A4 stainless steel. ISO 4762 defines the cylindrical-head, internally driven cap screw that is dimensionally interchangeable with DIN 912. In M8 the standard fixes a maximum head diameter of 13.0 mm and a maximum head height of 8.0 mm, with a 6 mm hexagon socket, on an ISO metric coarse thread of 1.25 mm pitch. The compact head allows the screw to be recessed into a counterbore so that nothing stands proud of the surface, and the deep socket gives good key engagement for controlled torque application. A4 is the molybdenum-alloyed austenitic grade within ISO 3506, selected over A2 where chlorides are present in the service environment. The property class of the stainless material should be confirmed at enquiry where a specific strength figure is required by the drawing.
