Description
Hex Socket Screw M6x70, DIN 912 / ISO 4762 — BOLTON SKU 60838.
About the Hex Socket Screw M6x70 DIN 912
This is a hexagon socket head cap screw in M6 x 70 mm, made to the DIN 912 pattern, which is dimensionally the same as ISO 4762. The head is cylindrical with a knurled periphery and an internal hexagon recess. For M6 the standard sets a maximum head diameter of 10.0 mm and a maximum head height of 6.0 mm, driven by a 5 mm hexagon key, on an ISO metric coarse thread of 1.0 mm pitch. At 70 mm this is a long variant for the M6 size, which changes how the screw behaves in a joint: a longer grip lets the shank stretch elastically over a greater distance, so the joint retains more of its preload under thermal cycling and vibration than a short screw of the same thread would. Material and finish are not fixed by this designation and should be confirmed at enquiry, since DIN 912 covers several property classes and stainless grades.

Typical applications
A 70 mm M6 cap screw is used where the fastener must reach through a deep stack: spacer and standoff assemblies, stacked plate joints, motor and pump mountings with intervening shims, and covers seated over gaskets or damping pads. The extra length is chosen for reach and for elastic grip rather than for strength, since the thread size sets the load capacity. Where the unthreaded portion passes through a clearance hole, it can also help locate the joint during assembly.
