Description
Socket Head Cap Screw M6x65, SS Grade A2, ISO 4762 — BOLTON SKU 60841.
About the Socket Head Cap Screw M6x65 SS
This item is a hexagon socket head cap screw to ISO 4762 in M6 x 65 mm, made in A2 stainless steel. ISO 4762 defines the cylindrical head with an internal hexagon drive that is interchangeable with DIN 912; for M6 the head is limited to a 10.0 mm maximum diameter and a 6.0 mm maximum height, and the drive takes a 5 mm hexagon key, on an ISO metric coarse thread of 1.0 mm pitch. At 65 mm the screw is a long variant, giving substantial grip through stacked components. A2 is the general-purpose chromium-nickel austenitic grade of the ISO 3506 stainless family, non-magnetic in the annealed condition and corrosion-resisting in indoor, humid and mildly aggressive environments, though less tolerant of chlorides than the molybdenum-bearing A4 grade. Austenitic stainless screws are prone to thread galling when run in dry and fast, so assembly speed and lubrication are worth attention on long engagements like this one.

Typical applications
A 65 mm M6 stainless cap screw suits joints that pass through several layers, such as panel plus insulation plus frame, or a bracket carried on spacers, where the fastener also needs corrosion resistance on an exposed head. Typical uses include enclosure and cabinet assembly, handrail and frame hardware, equipment feet and skid mounts, and general fabrication indoors or under cover. Where the installation sees salt spray or chloride washdown, the A4 equivalent is the more appropriate grade.
