About the PH-57 ENGINEER Combination Scissors, 210mm
The PH-57 is a heavy-duty combination scissor from ENGINEER, 210 mm overall with a 58 mm blade that is 3 mm thick and made from stainless steel. What makes it a combination tool is that each blade carries two serration patterns along its length: fine serrations toward the tip, which grip thin, slippery materials such as film, PET and synthetic fibre instead of pushing them forward, and coarser serrations at the rear of the blade, which hold thicker items like electrical cable, rope and webbing while the cut is made. The handles are two-tone, combining a cushioned TPR grip with a shock-resistant ABS body, and an integral finger guard is moulded in to stop the fingers being pinched as the handles close. The 98 mm handle width and the blade thickness are what carry the load on heavier cuts. Made in Japan.

Typical applications
Scissors of this construction are kept for cutting jobs that would blunt or spring an ordinary pair: electrical cable and cable ties, insulation and sleeving, webbing, cord and rope, leather and aramid fibre cloth. The fine serrations make them useful on films and PET packaging where a plain blade slips. Because they cut both soft and stranded material well, they are a common item on harnessing, stores and field-kit benches rather than a bench-only tool.
