Description
Hex Nylock Nut M6, A/F 10 x 6 Thk, Steel Class 8, Zinc Plated, DIN 985 / ISO 10511 — BOLTON SKU 53332.
About the Hex Nylock Nut M6
This nut hex nylock m6 a/f 10 item is a prevailing-torque hexagon nut with a non-metallic insert, made to DIN 985 and its ISO equivalent ISO 10511. The thread is M6 with the coarse 1.0 mm pitch, the width across flats is 10 mm and the nut stands 6 mm high, which is the thin pattern rather than a full-height hexagon nut. A polyamide collar is set into the top of the nut with an inside diameter smaller than the thread’s major diameter; as the nut is run on, the bolt forms a thread in the polymer, and the resulting elastic grip generates locking torque that is independent of the clamp load. That is why the nut continues to resist loosening when a joint relaxes or is subjected to transverse vibration. The nut body is steel at property class 8 to ISO 898-2 and is zinc plated for corrosion protection.

Typical applications
M6 nylon-insert nuts are used on brackets, panels, guards, covers and light structural joints where vibration would loosen a plain nut and where a re-usable locking element is acceptable. The thin DIN 985 profile suits assemblies with restricted clearance behind the joint or a short bolt protrusion. Because the polyamide insert sets a service temperature ceiling well below that of the steel body, all-metal prevailing-torque nuts should be specified instead for hot locations.
