About the Button Head Hex Socket Screw M3
This screw btn hexal skt hd item is a hexagon socket button head screw made to ISO 7380, the standard that covers button head screws with reduced loadability in sizes M3 to M16. The reduced loadability comes from the head form itself: the domed, low-profile button head has a shallower socket than a cap head, so the standard treats it as a lower-strength head style even when the shank is a high property class. The thread is M3 with the 0.5 mm coarse pitch, the screw is 8 mm long and it is threaded along the full length. Drive is a hexagon socket taking a 2 mm key. The screw is class 8.8 steel and zinc plated, so it carries a plated carbon-steel finish rather than the bare surface of a stainless equivalent.

Typical applications
Chosen for M3 fixings where a cap head would stand too proud or catch, such as retaining thin covers, panels, brackets and enclosure lids on light assemblies. At 8 mm long and fully threaded it is a short-grip screw for thin sheet or shallow tapped holes rather than a clamping bolt. The zinc plating suits dry indoor and enclosed applications; where the fixing is exposed to weather or washdown, a stainless button head is normally specified instead.
