Description
Hex Cap Head Screw M3x10 SST A4 DIN 912 — BOLTON SKU 57576.
About the Hex Cap Head Screw M3x10 SST
DIN 912 is the long-standing designation for the hexagon socket head cap screw, superseded in current use by ISO 4762 with the same head geometry. This size is M3 x 10 mm in A4 stainless steel. For M3 the standard gives a maximum head diameter of 5.50 mm and a maximum head height of 3.00 mm, driven by a 2.5 mm hexagon key; the M3 coarse thread pitch is 0.5 mm. A4 is the molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless grade, chosen over A2 where the fastener is exposed to chlorides, salt spray, coastal atmosphere or wash-down chemicals. At 10 mm long with a 3 mm shank this is a small fixing, so the drive socket is the limiting feature — a worn or undersized key will round the socket before the thread is properly tightened.

Typical applications
A 10 mm M3 screw is a short fixing for thin plate, printed-circuit standoffs, small brackets, sensor mounts and instrument covers where the total grip is only a few millimetres. Specifying A4 rather than A2 at this size is usually driven by the environment rather than by load: coastal and marine installations, outdoor enclosures and equipment subject to salt-laden air or regular chemical cleaning. The small cylindrical head fits neatly into shallow counterbores on machined or moulded parts.
