Description
Hex Nut M4 A4 Stainless Steel ISO 4032 — BOLTON SKU 57596.
About the Hex Nut M4 A4 Stainless Steel
ISO 4032 covers the standard-height hexagon nut, the everyday full nut used across metric assemblies. In M4 the standard sets a width across flats of 7.00 mm nominal, with a minimum of 6.78 mm, and a nut height of 3.20 mm maximum and 2.90 mm minimum. The thread is M4 coarse at 0.7 mm pitch. This item is supplied in A4 stainless steel, the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade specified where chloride exposure, marine atmosphere or aggressive cleaning chemistry would attack A2. Being a plain hexagon nut, it carries no prevailing-torque feature: where vibration is a concern it is used with a locking washer, thread-locking compound or a separate locking nut. Pairing an A4 nut with an A4 screw also avoids the galvanic mismatch that arises when stainless and plated-steel fasteners are combined in a wet joint.

Typical applications
The 7 mm across-flats size means this nut is driven with a common 7 mm socket or spanner, which keeps it practical for through-bolted joints in panels, frames and equipment racks where access is from both sides. A4 material makes it a routine choice for outdoor structures, coastal installations and wash-down areas. Because it has no self-locking element, it is generally specified where the joint is either clamped hard against a shoulder or backed up by a separate anti-vibration provision.
