Description
Threaded Rod M3 x 1000mm SS A4 DIN 975 — BOLTON SKU 57614.
About the Threaded Rod M3 x 1000mm SS
DIN 975 covers threaded rod, sometimes called studding: bar carrying a continuous thread along its whole length, supplied in a standard 1000 mm length with a tolerance of plus or minus 10 mm. This item is M3 with a 0.5 mm coarse pitch, in A4 stainless steel. The standard permits carbon-steel property classes as well as A2 and A4 stainless; A4 is the molybdenum-bearing austenitic grade used where chlorides, marine air or chemical wash-down would corrode A2 or plated steel. Because the rod is threaded end to end, it is cut to the length the job needs and finished with plain, locking or cap nuts as required, so a single stock length covers many different fixing depths. At M3 the section is small, so the rod is used in tension and location duties rather than as a structural member.

Typical applications
A 1 m length of M3 studding is normally bought to be cut down: tie rods and spacer stacks inside instrument and electronics enclosures, adjustable standoffs, jig and fixture setting screws, and light suspension or tensioning links. The fine M3 section suits assemblies where the fastener must pass through crowded internals without stealing space. Supplying it in A4 extends its use to outdoor enclosures, coastal sites and equipment washed down with cleaning chemicals.
