Description
Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M6 x 50, Black, ISO 4762 — BOLTON SKU 60220.
About the Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M6
This is the M6 x 50 mm size of the ISO 4762 hexagon socket head cap screw, the cylindrical-head screw driven by an internal hexagon and still widely called DIN 912 on older drawings. For M6 the standard sets a maximum head diameter of 10.00 mm and a maximum head height of 6.0 mm, driven by a 5 mm hexagon key; the M6 coarse thread pitch is 1.0 mm. The item is supplied with a black finish. At 50 mm the screw is long enough that part of the shank normally sits unthreaded through the clearance hole in longer-length ISO 4762 production, which is the intended arrangement for a shear-loaded joint. The internal hexagon drive is what makes this head form useful in confined positions: the key is applied along the screw axis, so no spanner swing is needed alongside the head.

Typical applications
A 50 mm M6 socket cap screw is a mid-length structural fixing: through-bolting stacked plates, mounting gearboxes, motors and actuator brackets, and securing machine guards and frame members where the grip runs to several tens of millimetres. The black finish is often preferred on visible machine and enclosure work for appearance and to reduce reflection. The 10 mm head fits a standard M6 counterbore where a flush face is wanted.
