Description
ISO 4762 Socket Head Cap Screw M4x20 Steel — BOLTON SKU 69193.
About the ISO 4762 Socket Head Cap Screw
ISO 4762 is the international standard for hexagon socket head cap screws in product grade A, the metric equivalent of DIN 912. In the M4 size the standard fixes a head diameter of 7.00 mm maximum, a head height of 4.00 mm maximum and a 3 mm hexagon socket, on an M4 x 0.7 coarse thread. This item is the 20 mm nominal length in steel. The cylindrical head and internal drive let the screw be seated in a counterbore so the head finishes flush or below the surface, and the deep socket allows higher tightening torque than an equivalent slotted or cross-recess head of the same diameter. Property class and finish for a steel ISO 4762 screw are specified per order — state your requirement on the RFQ.

Typical applications
At 20 mm the M4 screw reaches through a moderately thick plate or bracket into a tapped boss, which makes it a workhorse for machine guards, panel frames, motor and sensor mounts and small gearbox covers. Because the 7 mm head sits in a standard M4 counterbore, it is also used where a fixing must not protrude into a moving envelope or a sealing face.
