About the ISO 7089 Plain Washer 6×12 Steel
ISO 7089 covers plain washers in the normal series to product grade A, with a hardness class of 200 HV. In the nominal size 6 the standard gives a 6.4 mm inside diameter, a 12.0 mm maximum outside diameter and a 1.6 mm nominal thickness (1.4 mm to 1.8 mm). The 6.4 mm bore clears an M6 fastener, and the 12 mm outer face nearly doubles the bearing diameter of a plain M6 nut, which lowers the contact stress on softer materials. Product grade A is the closer-tolerance ISO washer grade, with better flatness and finish than the grade C alternative. The 1.6 mm section also makes this washer substantially stiffer than the small M3 sizes, so it resists dishing under load. Material variant and plating are agreed per order.

Typical applications
M6 is the general structural size for frames, enclosures, machine feet, cable trays and equipment mounts, and this washer is the standard companion under the nut or head. The wider bearing face is particularly useful when clamping aluminium extrusion, GRP panels or plastics that would otherwise be crushed, and when a fixing passes through an oversized or slotted hole.
