About the KNIPEX 78 03 140 Super Knips XL
The 78 03 140 electronic nippers are the XL version of the KNIPEX Electronic Super Knips, at 140 mm overall length with multi-component grips. The cutting edges are ground without a bevel and use a shear-cut action with a controlled micro-misalignment of the edges, which produces a clean, close cut rather than the crushed end left by a conventional wedge cutter. The head is made from INOX tool steel at approximately 54 HRC. The tips are precision shaped so that fine wires lying against a housing or a component body can still be reached and cut. A friction-free torsion spring returns the jaws, and an opening limiter and opening spring make repeated cutting less tiring. The pivot uses a stainless steel rivet.

Typical applications
These nippers are intended for ultra-fine cutting in electronics and fine mechanics: trimming component leads flush to a board after soldering, cropping wire, cutting cable ties close to the head and dressing small harness work. The 140 mm XL body gives more hand leverage than the standard-length Super Knips while keeping the fine tip geometry, which suits longer cutting sessions and slightly heavier soft wire. Note that bevel-free flush cutters are not intended for hardened or piano wire.
