About the PanaVise Model 301
The Model 301 is the standard PanaVise combination: a vise head carried on a fixed base, with a single control knob that both locks the head position and clamps the jaws. Loosening the knob frees the head through three planes of movement — 90° of tilt, 360° of turn and 360° of rotation — so a workpiece can be brought to a comfortable angle and then locked in one action. The jaws are 2.5 in (63.5 mm) wide and 0.5 in (12.6 mm) tall and open to 2.25 in (57.1 mm). They are moulded in nylon, which is electrically insulating and gentler on finished surfaces than steel jaws, and which tolerates 200 °F (93 °C) continuously and 300 °F (149 °C) intermittently — enough for soldering work close to the jaw line. The base is countersunk on a 4.3125 in bolt circle for three 1/4 in flat-head screws, and the assembly weighs 2.7 lb.

Typical applications
The insulating nylon jaws and the ability to tilt and rotate a board make the PanaVise 301 bench vice a standard fixture for printed-circuit-board assembly, rework and inspection, connector and harness termination, and small-part fitting or gluing. The 2.25 in jaw opening suits circuit cards, small housings, connector shells and light mechanical components rather than heavy metalwork, and the bolt-down base is intended for permanent mounting on a bench or a test trolley.
