M2x10 Self-Tapping Cap Screw, Stainless A2 — BOLTON SKU 65624.
About the M2x10 Self-Tapping Cap Screw Stainless A2
This fastener is an M2 x 10 mm self-tapping cap screw in A2 stainless steel. A self-tapping screw forms or cuts its own mating thread as it is driven into a pre-drilled pilot hole, which removes the need for a separate tapping operation, a nut or a threaded insert in thin sheet, moulded plastic housings and light alloy. The M2 nominal diameter with a 10 mm length places it in the small-fastener range used for enclosures, brackets, covers and electronic sub-assemblies. A2 is the austenitic stainless group defined in ISO 3506, broadly equivalent to AISI 304. It provides good general corrosion resistance in humid and coastal atmospheres and is essentially non-magnetic in the annealed condition, which is often a requirement where fasteners sit close to sensors, compasses or antennas. Head form, drive recess and thread profile should be confirmed against a sample or drawing at quotation, since self-tapping designations differ between manufacturers.

Typical applications
M2 self-tapping screws close small enclosures, retain printed circuit boards and mount lightweight brackets into plastic or thin sheet metal where a tapped hole would be impractical. The stainless grade suits assemblies exposed to humidity, washdown or coastal air. At this diameter the screw is used for retention rather than for carrying structural load.
