Description
Pan Head Hexalobular Socket Screw, M6 x 40, Steel Grade 8.8, Zinc Plated, Full Thread — BOLTON SKU 53099.
About the Pan Head Hexalobular Socket Screw, M6
This Pan Head Hexalobular Socket Screw M6 x 40 is a metric machine screw with a low-profile pan head and a hexalobular (six-lobe, TX-type) internal drive, supplied with a fully threaded shank. It is manufactured from property class 8.8 carbon steel — the widely used medium-strength bolting class whose nominal tensile strength is 800 MPa under ISO 898-1 — and is zinc plated for basic corrosion protection in dry, indoor or otherwise protected service. The hexalobular recess allows high installation torque to be transmitted with minimal cam-out and low bit wear, which suits powered and repeated assembly better than cross-recess drives. The product name references an ISO specification for this head form. Full threading over the 40 mm length allows clamping into tapped holes and inserts at any engagement depth up to the screw length.

Typical applications
Screws of this pattern are used in equipment enclosures, brackets, guards and general machine assembly where a neat low-profile head and a positive power-drive recess are wanted. Class 8.8 strength suits load-bearing fixture and bracket duty that plain mild-steel screws cannot safely carry.
