Description
Hex Button Head Screw M10 x 40 Stainless Steel ISO 7380-1 — BOLTON SKU 54685.
About the Hex Button Head Screw M10 x 40
This Hex Button Head Screw M10 size is made to ISO 7380-1, the standard for button head screws with a low, domed head and internal hexagon drive. It carries the standard metric coarse thread for M10 (1.5 mm pitch) at a 40 mm length and is driven with a 6 mm hexagon key, the socket size the standard assigns to M10 button heads. The listed material is stainless steel. Compared with a socket head cap screw of the same thread, the button head presents a wider, lower-profile bearing surface and a rounded, snag-free finish, at the cost of a shallower socket — so it is chosen for appearance and clearance rather than maximum installation torque. The 6 mm socket accepts standard hex keys and driver bits, and the shallow dome sheds dust and water more readily than a deep recessed head.

Typical applications
The M10 × 40 size suits frames, machine guarding, fixtures and equipment skids where a substantial metric fastener is needed but a protruding or sharp-edged head is undesirable — walkway edges, handling equipment and visible external panels being common cases. Stainless construction supports outdoor and washdown installations.
