About the Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M2
This Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M2 size is a miniature fastener with the standard metric coarse thread for M2 (0.4 mm pitch) and a short 4 mm length, suited to thin components and shallow tapped holes. It is produced in A4 austenitic stainless steel, the molybdenum-bearing 316-type grade, which offers better resistance to chlorides and pitting than A2 — the reason A4 is often specified for marine, coastal and chemically exposed equipment. The cylindrical cap head with internal hexagon drive permits counterbored, flush installation and gives positive key engagement at a size where slotted drives are easily damaged. The short 4 mm thread also means that tapped holes only a few millimetres deep are sufficient, which helps keep miniature housings and mounting bosses compact.
