Description
Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M3 x 12, Stainless Steel A2, Full Thread, DIN 912 / ISO 4762 — BOLTON SKU 55342.
About the Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M3
DIN 912 / ISO 4762 is the dimensional standard for hexagon socket head cap screws with cylindrical heads. This Hex Socket Head Cap Screw M3 variant is 12 mm long and fully threaded, carries the standard metric coarse pitch for M3 (0.5 mm) and is driven with a 2.5 mm hexagon key, the size the standard assigns to M3. It is made in A2 austenitic stainless steel (304-type) for corrosion resistance without plating. Full threading to the head means the screw can clamp over its entire length, which suits thin stacked parts and short tapped engagements; the cylindrical head installs neatly in counterbored holes for a flush finish. As with the DIN 912 pattern generally, the head height is nominally equal to the thread diameter — 3 mm for this M3 size — which makes counterbore depths predictable at the design stage.

Typical applications
The fully threaded M3 × 12 size is a workhorse in equipment builds — clamping PCB mounts, DIN-rail accessories, small gearmotor flanges and sheet-metal sub-assemblies where thread engagement right up to the head is needed. Counterbored installation keeps heads clear of moving parts and covers.
