Nylock Nut M2, Steel, Zinc Plated, DIN 985 / ISO 10511 — BOLTON SKU 55385.
About the Nylock Nut M2, Steel, Zinc Plated, DIN
This Nylock Nut M2 Steel Zinc Plated item is a miniature prevailing-torque lock nut of the DIN 985 / ISO 10511 pattern — hexagon nuts with a non-metallic locking insert. It carries the standard metric coarse thread for M2 (0.4 mm pitch); the steel body is zinc plated for corrosion protection. A polyamide (nylon) collar in the crown of the nut grips the mating screw thread as the nut is tightened, producing a friction-based prevailing torque that keeps the nut in place under vibration without a separate lock washer or thread-locking adhesive — particularly valuable at the M2 size, where adding washers and adhesives to a tiny joint is impractical. Prevailing-torque nuts may be reused only a limited number of times, with locking torque reducing at each reuse, so critical joints normally receive a fresh nut.

Typical applications
M2 nylock nuts retain miniature fasteners in electronics assemblies, servo and actuator linkages, small UAV-class airframes and instrument mechanisms — joints too small for conventional locking hardware but still exposed to vibration. They pair with M2 machine screws through clearance holes in thin panels and brackets.
