Description
ISO 7380 Button Head Socket Cap Screw M3x12-A4 — BOLTON SKU 56929.
About the ISO 7380 Button Head Socket Cap Screw
An M3 x 12 mm button head socket screw in A4 stainless steel, made to the ISO 7380 series (hexagon socket button head screws with reduced loadability, part 1). This is the smallest diameter in BOLTON’s listed button head range: the M3 thread carries a 0.5 mm coarse pitch, the domed head measures 5.7 mm across and just 1.65 mm high, and it is driven by a 2 mm hex key. A 12 mm nominal length gives four diameters of available engagement, generous for small tapped components. The ISO 7380 Button Head Socket Cap geometry is intentionally shallow — the reduced head and socket limit achievable preload relative to a full cap screw, in exchange for a compact, rounded profile. A4 austenitic stainless (316-type, molybdenum-bearing) resists pitting in chloride-exposed and frequently cleaned environments better than the A2 grade.

Typical applications
M3 button head screws are typical fixings for small electronics enclosures, instrument panels, nameplates and light covers where the fastener head must stay unobtrusive. The 12 mm length suits thin panels fastened into deeper bosses or standoffs, and the A4 grade is appropriate when the assembly will see humid, coastal or washdown conditions.
