About the 3M 501 Respirator Filter Retainer
The 3M 501 Respirator Filter Retainer is a reusable plastic retaining ring that holds 3M particulate filters — the 5N11 (N95) and 5P71 (P95) — in place over 3M 6000-series gas and vapour cartridges or on the 3M 603 filter adapter. It snaps on by hand, clamping the filter edge so the media stays firmly seated during work and can be swapped quickly when loaded. The retainer is lightweight, translucent and durable, and 3M lists it as compatible with facepieces across the 6000, 6500/6500QL, 7500 and FF-400 series. As a system component it carries no filtration rating of its own; protection class is set by the filter and cartridge combination chosen for the task. 3M offers the 501 in two-piece packs and bulk cases for programme stocking.
