About the ISO 7089 M2 A4 Stainless Steel Washer
This is a normal-series plain flat washer manufactured to ISO 7089, in the M2 nominal size. Under the standard, the M2 washer has a 2.2 mm inner diameter, a 5.0 mm maximum outer diameter and a 0.3 mm nominal thickness (tolerance band 0.25–0.35 mm). The material is A4 stainless steel — the austenitic 316 grade, often called marine grade — which offers stronger resistance to chlorides and general corrosion than A2 (304) stainless. ISO 7089 washers distribute the clamping load of a screw or nut over a wider bearing area and protect the mating surface from damage during tightening. Ordering to the ISO designation means dimensional interchangeability with other ISO 7089 M2 washers regardless of manufacturer.
