Description
Lock Washer, Internal Tooth, 5.7mm, Steel, DIN6797J — BOLTON SKU 63956.
About the Lock Washer, Internal Tooth, 5.7mm, Steel, DIN6797J
This is a toothed lock washer to DIN 6797 form J, the variant with teeth around the inside circumference, in steel with a 5.7 mm bore. The internal teeth are twisted prongs that bite into both the bearing face of the fastener head and the clamped surface as the joint is tightened, resisting loosening from vibration by mechanical interlock rather than spring tension alone. Because form J places the teeth at the inner edge, the locking action sits under the head where it is concealed after assembly, and the washer suits fastener heads with a small outside diameter, such as cheese heads and pan heads. DIN 6797 defines the washer geometry; surface finish options vary by manufacturer, so specify any plating requirement in your RFQ.

Typical applications
Internal-tooth washers of this size lock small machine screws in electrical and mechanical assemblies subject to vibration — terminal connections, panel hardware and equipment covers. They are frequently used in earthing/grounding points, where the teeth cut through paint or oxide layers to establish metal-to-metal contact.
