Description
Hex Bolt M8 x 70 mm, Mild Steel — BOLTON SKU 68977.
About the Hex Bolt M8 x 70 mm, Mild
This Hex Bolt M8 x 70 mm is an externally hexagon-headed bolt with an ISO metric M8 coarse thread (1.25 mm pitch) and a 70 mm nominal length under the head, made from mild (low-carbon) steel. The hexagon head is driven with a 13 mm spanner or socket in common metric practice and permits high clamping torque with ordinary hand tools from any side access. Mild steel is the general-purpose bolt material for structural and fabrication work that does not demand a specified high property class: it is ductile, readily welded near, and economical for frames, brackets and guarding. At 70 mm the bolt spans thick stacked sections or timber-to-steel joints, used with a matching M8 nut and washers. Being unhardened, it should not replace bolts where a property class such as 8.8 is specified by design.

Typical applications
M8 x 70 mild steel hex bolts suit general fabrication: bolting frames, base plates, brackets, fencing and guard panels where the joint thickness approaches 60-70 mm or packing pieces are present. For load-rated or vibration-critical joints, specify a graded bolt instead and state the class in your RFQ.
