The ISO 10511 M10-A4 Nut Steel Prevailing torque hexagon nut is manufactured to ISO 10511, which specifies prevailing torque hexagon thin nuts with a non-metallic insert in steel and stainless steel, metric coarse pitch, sizes M3 to M39. This item is the M10 coarse-thread size in stainless steel grade A4 — the molybdenum-bearing austenitic fastener grade of ISO 3506 selected for improved corrosion resistance over A2. The nut’s polymer insert deforms elastically over the bolt thread and generates a prevailing (running) torque that resists rotation loosening in service; the locking action does not depend on clamp load, so it remains effective even if the joint relaxes. Being a thin-style nut, its overall height and load capability are lower than a regular ISO prevailing torque nut, which the standard flags as a design consideration rather than a defect.
