Part 98432A111 is a 4 mm diameter x 16 mm long pull-out dowel pin in 18-8 stainless steel with a flat vent machined along the shaft. The flat relieves air trapped in a blind hole as the pin is pressed in, so pressure build-up does not resist installation or push the pin back out; a flat vent is also less likely to become blocked than a spiral vent groove, at the cost of slightly reduced hold. One end is internally tapped, so a screw or removal tool can be threaded in to extract the pin from a blind hole without access from behind. The 18-8 stainless grade resists rust in wet and outdoor environments and withstands mild chemicals such as cleaners and degreasers, keeping the pin serviceable in fixtures that are washed down between uses.
