About the M.A. Ford 2mm Diameter Metric Fiberglass Router
M.A. Ford’s fiberglass routers are solid carbide rotary cutters with burr-style toothed flutes developed for machining glass-fibre reinforced plastics and similar abrasive composite materials, and the bur-end style carries the cutting geometry onto the tip so the tool can plunge into the laminate and then rout laterally. This tool is the 2 mm cutting-diameter size — the finest diameter in this listing family. At 2 mm, the cutter is intended for small-radius internal corners, narrow slots and small cutouts where a larger router simply cannot follow the profile. The many small cutting edges of the burr flute pattern shear the glass fibres cleanly and shed heat into fine chips, which limits delamination and fraying at the cut edge compared with conventional two-flute end mills in these materials.
