About the M.A. Ford 2.3mm Diameter Metric Fiberglass Router
This cutter is the 2.3 mm cutting-diameter member of M.A. Ford’s metric fiberglass router range, a family of solid carbide burr-fluted tools for abrasive glass-reinforced composites whose bur-end tip supports plunge entry before lateral routing. The 2.3 mm diameter is an intermediate size sitting between the 2 mm and 2.5 mm cutters, and such closely stepped diameters exist for a practical reason: routed holes and slots in laminates finish very close to tool diameter, so selecting the exact intermediate size lets a fabricator hit a specified aperture width or match a pre-drilled pilot without re-cutting. Like its siblings it is intended to run at high spindle speeds, where the many small carbide teeth of the burr flute pattern abrade the glass fibre cleanly instead of tearing it.
