Stripmaster tools use a die block with pre-formed cutting notches so the insulation is gripped and pulled clear in one squeeze rather than being cut by an adjustable blade. The 45-1987 reference is the Custom Stripmaster variant whose die covers the 16 to 26 AWG span quoted here. It is used in harness building and panel wiring where repeatable strip length matters.
