About the CGD5020-12V Brushless Axial Fan, 12V DC
The CGD5020-12V axial cooling fan is a small brushless DC exhaust fan in the 50 x 50 x 20 mm frame size, one of the most widely used footprints for board-level and enclosure cooling. It runs from a 12 V DC supply at a rated speed of 5000 rpm. The rotor turns on a ball bearing, which is the construction normally specified over sleeve bearings where the fan runs continuously, sits in a warm enclosure, or is mounted in an orientation other than shaft-horizontal. Electrical connection is by a 3-pin lead with PWM, so the host system can both read the fan and modulate its speed rather than running it flat out at all times. The frame and impeller are moulded in plastic. Configured as an exhaust fan, it is oriented to draw warm air out of an enclosure rather than to push ambient air in.
