About the Securlon L-500Y-CF Bagging Film Center Fold
SECURLON L-500Y is a multi-layer vacuum bagging film from Airtech Advanced Materials Group, built up in layers so that a flaw in any one layer is less likely to breach the bag and compromise vacuum integrity. This roll is the centre-fold (CF) format at a gauge of 0.002 in, approximately 50 microns, supplied 60 in wide folded on a 1000 ft roll. Centre-fold film is delivered folded along its length and opens out to roughly twice the folded width, so a 60 in folded roll gives about 120 in of usable width once opened. That makes it economical for bagging parts wider than the folded roll while keeping roll handling manageable. The 0.002 in gauge is the lighter of the two gauges commonly stocked in this product, suited to bagging where the film does not have to bridge sharp radii or deep draws.
