Description
Spark Plug Brush, Wooden — BOLTON SKU 52617.
About the Spark Plug Brush Wooden
The 12375 spark plug brush is a Stahlwille cleaning brush supplied under article number 74160001. It is 150 mm long, with brass wire bristles of 0.15 mm diameter set into a shaped wooden handle. Brass is used rather than steel because it is softer than the electrode alloys and the ceramic insulator nose, so carbon deposits and light corrosion are removed without scoring the surfaces being cleaned and without leaving hard particles behind. The 0.15 mm bristle diameter is fine enough to reach into the annular gap between the centre electrode and the insulator, which is where deposits normally build up first. The wooden handle keeps the brush comfortable to hold for repetitive work and gives good control when working around the electrode gap. It is made in Germany.

Typical applications
The usual duty is decarbonising spark plug electrodes and insulator noses during routine servicing of petrol engines in generators, pumps, compactors, motorcycles and small plant. The same brush is used for cleaning contacts, terminals and earth points where a steel brush would be too aggressive for the base metal or plating. It is a consumable workshop item, generally ordered in small batches alongside plug spanners and feeler gauges.
