CF-22-210-100 twill carbon fibre cloth: specification
CF-22-210-100 is a woven carbon fibre reinforcement cloth of 210 g/m² areal weight (about 6.2 oz/yd²), woven in a 2/2 twill from 3k carbon tow and supplied on a roll 1000 mm wide, cut by the linear metre. In a 2/2 twill each tow passes over two and under two of the crossing tows, which produces the familiar diagonal pattern, allows the fabric to drape over curved tooling more readily than a plain weave, and keeps the reinforcement balanced with fibres running at 0° and 90°. The 3k designation means each tow contains 3,000 individual filaments, the tow size normally used for fine-weave cloths around this weight. Fabrics in this class are general-purpose reinforcement for hand lamination, vacuum bagging and resin infusion, and are also used as a surface layer to give a heavier laminate a uniform woven finish.

Typical applications
At 210 g/m² this cloth is light enough to conform to tight radii and small mouldings, so it is used for UAV airframe skins, fairings, ducts, instrument enclosures and cosmetic trim panels. The 1000 mm roll width lets most small and medium parts be cut in a single ply without a join, and the twill weave keeps the visible surface consistent when the part is left clear-coated. It is equally used as a finishing ply over heavier unidirectional or 400 g/m² laminates and for local repairs to existing composite structures.
