A jam nut receptacle is fitted through a panel cut-out and secured from the rear with a nut, which allows the connector to be replaced without access to the front face. The PCB contacts on this variant solder directly into a board behind the panel, and the P in the 35P suffix marks it as the pin-contact arrangement.
