About the Extech VFM200 VOC and Formaldehyde Meter
The VFM200 VOC formaldehyde meter is a handheld instrument that reads two indoor air quality parameters at once: formaldehyde (CH2O) over 0.00 to 5.00 ppm and total volatile organic compounds over 0.00 to 9.99 ppm, both quoted in ppm and mg/m3. Resolution is 0.01 on both channels and Extech states an accuracy of plus or minus 5 percent of full scale, with a response time of about 2 seconds, which is what makes it usable for walking a space and watching the reading change rather than taking single fixed samples. Extech lists detection across thirteen compounds including acetone, benzene, xylene and hydrogen sulphide. The meter measures 165 x 60 x 25 mm and weighs 584 g, and it runs from a rechargeable 7.4 V, 1300 mAh lithium-polymer battery with an AC adapter supplied. Extech states a two year warranty.
