About the Heat-Shrinkable Tubing Thin Wall Fluid Resistant
This is thin-wall heat-shrinkable tubing with a 2:1 shrink ratio, described as fluid resistant and supplied at 1/8 in (3.175 mm) inside diameter. Listed as tubing heat-shrinkable thin wall fluid resistant, it is applied by sliding the tube over the joint and heating it. A 2:1 ratio means the tube recovers to approximately half its supplied diameter, so a 1/8 in tube closes down to roughly 1.6 mm nominal at full recovery and grips anything within that range. The thin-wall construction adds little bulk and stays flexible, which is why this class of tubing is used over conductors and small terminations rather than as a mechanical protection sleeve. Fluid resistance refers to the material remaining serviceable after contact with common service fluids. Typical applications
Tubing at this diameter is used to insulate and identify individual conductors, to sleeve small soldered or crimped terminations, and to give strain relief where a wire leaves a terminal. The thin wall keeps the finished bundle compact, which matters in dense harnesses and inside small backshells.
